This Sunday, November 10th, Abraham Diaz Alonso from the Mennonite Central Committee immigration program will visit to share more about the current issues in immigration and how congregations can get involved in supporting local immigration work.
Abraham is a Christian immigrant from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and came to the United States in 2002 with his family, driven by the hope of a brighter future. Now residing in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, where the United States, Mexico border, and the Gulf of Mexico meet, Abraham serves as the Immigration Program Coordinator for Mennonite Central Committee - Central States Region.
With nearly two decades of experience as an undocumented immigrant and deep involvement in regional and national immigration organizations, Abraham brings invaluable perspective to his work. Having successfully navigated the complex path to U.S. citizenship, he now focuses on supporting nonprofits and Mennonite churches in their mission to serve migrants and displaced individuals.
Through his work, Abraham remains committed to fostering understanding, education, and support for immigrant communities. Join us as he shares his personal journey and insights into the complexities of immigration, inviting us to consider our roles in building inclusive and compassionate communities.
