engaging beyond

At Houston Mennonite we want to support our members where their passions are and where they're already active, rather than trying to get sign-ups for a whole new bunch of programs of our own.

Houston Mennonites are active with these groups (among others):

MAM (Memorial Assistance Ministries)

MAM is local to HMC and works to meet the basic needs of Houston residents with personalized support. Houston Mennonite is one of MAM's Member Congregations.

Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS)

MDS is a volunteer network of Anabaptist churches that responds in Christian love to those affected by disasters in Canada and the United States. While the main focus is on clean up, repair and rebuilding homes, this service touches lives and nurtures hope, faith and wholeness.

Fair Trade Houston

Houston Mennonite works to live in harmony with the world and its people. In addition to working towards zero waste, we support fair wages for all workers and buy Fair Trade where we can. In our lobby we have a certified Fair Trade shop where a variety of Fair Trade products are available for purchase.

Houston Peace & Justice Center (HPJC)
Providing peace education, activism training, and collaborative resources for individuals, families, and organizations throughout the Greater Houston area to build a just, sustainable, and non-violent community. Every summer our church host's HPJC's "Peace Camp" for Houston kids.

Houston Food Not Bombs

Food Not Bombs recovers and shares free vegan or vegetarian food with the public without restriction in over 1,000 cities around the world to protest war, poverty and the destruction of the environment. With over a billion people going hungry each day how can we spend another dollar on war?
